Siskin London launches with capsule scarf collection
Silk scarves are the definitive accessory right now, selling in ever increasing numbers. Never has there been such a demand for a diversity of beautiful printed scarves in a cornucopia of sizes and fabrics.
British textile designer Keren McConnell has taken inspiration from holidays in the Pyrénées-Orientales, Southern France, together with influences from her personal collection of vintage silk scarves to launch Siskin London. The scarves incorporate painterly graphic brushstrokes in bold colour combinations including Sunflower, Pepper Red and Azure.
The company is named after the Siskin – a cute, brightly coloured native British bird spotted in large numbers in Keren’s North London garden while she was designing the collection.
Keren has worked as a freelance textile designer for over 20 years in studios in London and New York, designing prints for brands including Donna Karan, Calvin Klein and Nike.
What differentiates Siskin London from other scarf brands is that each design starts as an original ink painting on paper, before being digitally printed onto high quality silk crepe de chine and finished with hand rolled hems. Every part of the process from design to production is carried out in the UK.
Keren McConnell says “Siskin London fulfills a long-held ambition to channel my love of pattern into creating a British scarf brand synonymous with timeless simplicity”
The trans-seasonal scarves make perfect gifts. Each one arrives wrapped in tissue inside a gold foil stamped matt black box, tied with a ribbon.
The debut capsule collection consists of five squares and three long scarves retailing at £180 each and are available to purchase online at: www.siskinlondon.com
